The Mercedes Championship is concluding today, and already Golf.com is spreading rumors that Mercedes may abandon the PGA in 2010 in part to save the $20 million sponsorship fees it might have to pay for the PGA tournament.
One of the big problems is that Phil Mickelson doesn’t play this tournament, nor does Tiger Woods. Both have complained that the tournament is too early in the year and cuts into their family time during the holidays. This is just another sign that PGA Commissioner Tim Finchem has blundered with the over-expansion of the golf season that runs nearly non-stop.
