The Golf Blog says from thegolfblog.com: Back in May, we chronicled how Tiger Woods’ driving stats were dramatically better from 1997 to 2002 under Butch Harmon’s instruction and dramatically worse from 2004 to 2010 under Hank Haney. Please click here to read that post.

Today, we will look at footage of Tiger’s swing under Butch and under Hank, side by side, by Ireland golf pro instructor Barry Power. He points out the “big dip” of Tiger’s head that occurred under Hank Haney’s tutelage. Under Butch’s instruction, Tiger’s head did not dip as severely. Haney’s teaching method — which sometimes is characterized as the “one swing plane” method — did not ever produce any consistency in Tiger’s driver. (We should also mention that Haney hardly helped Charles Barkley’s swing or Ray Romano’s swing, either.)

What should be obvious to any golfer is that a “big dip” of the head can’t be good for consistency, especially with the driver. Please watch the video, especially 3 minutes into the analysis for the “big dip” of Tiger’s head.

Just to see how dramatic the “big dip” got, watch this video from 2009 of Tiger Woods, especially the slow motion part. Put your cursor at the top of Tiger’s head and just watch how much low his head goes. For Hank Haney to let this swing flaw develop and go uncorrected for so many years is inexcusable.
