US Women’s Amateur: Pressel Rolls in Round 1
Defending Champion Jane Park and Morgan Pressel both won their opening matches at the US Women’s Amateur today.
Park beat Julia Huh, 4 and 3, while Pressel beat Sooji Cho, 7 and 5.
Many of you might remember Pressel in the 18th fairway of the 2005 US Women’s Open when Birdie Kim holed out right in front of her to win. (see related thegolfblog.com post here).
I find it extremely interesting that Pressel, the #1 ranked woman amateur in the country is playing in the “biggest” amateur event for women and succeeding, and someone named Wie is not participating?
