Phil Mickelson gives up 5 shot lead on Sunday, but rallies to birdie 2 of last 3 holes to win Northern Trust Open
It wasn’t pretty, but Phil Mickelson will take it. Playing erratic off the tee, Phil Mickelson gutted out a victory after he gave up a 5-shot lead on Sunday to Steve Stricker. Stricker bogeyed 18 to open the door to Phil’s comeback. Phil birdied 16 and 17, and then got up and down for par on 18 to win by 1 stroked. Phil won, but he was lucky to escape the way he did. His swing flaw off the tee is very worrisome.
