Displaying credibility, sorrow, and remorse, Cori Rist revealed her sexual affair with Tiger Woods in a way that may do more lasting damage to Tiger’s reputation than any other interview with other women. Ms. Rist, a mother of a 7 year old boy, was like the key witness whose credibility and testimony destroy the defense at trial.
The picture of Tiger Woods that Ms. Rist portrayed was completely unflattering. Tiger pursued her in 2006 (Tiger married in 2005) and they started to have a sexual affair for 6 months. According to Cori, Tiger tried to convince her that his marriage was on the rocks and that they might have a future together. But, eventually, Cori realized Tiger wasn’t leaving his wife for her. She felt that her affair with Tiger was morally wrong, so she called it off after 6 months of having sex with him. But Tiger Woods kept calling her and texting her for 2 and a half years, trying to get her to meet him. Tiger even called her in September 2009, hoping that Cori might meet him again.
Ms. Rist broke down in tears discussing how people have said horrible things to her 7 year old son. She apologized profusely to Elin, Tiger’s wife, but admitted that the words would not be enough to stop the pain that Elin must be going through.
In perhaps her most telling comment, Ms. Rist said Tiger Woods was “not an honest man.”
