The Golf Blog says: Just received this press release. Suicide is the Third Leading Cause of Death among 15-24 Year Olds. LPGA Golfer and Model Anna Rawson has partnered with the Inspire USA Foundation and will be doing a live chat on their website platform Reachout.com to talk about golf, fashion, as well as some of her own tough times. The famed golfer has decided to focus all her energy and efforts on Inspire USA, Reachout.com and to help youth who may be at risk for suicide.
“I am really looking forward to doing a live chat on Reachout.com,” said Anna. “I have always felt using social media and the internet is the best way to maintain a direct relationship with fans, and I’m glad I can partner with the Inspire USA Foundation to promote our shared goal of reaching out to young people facing tough times.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15-24 year-olds, who account for 12% of the U.S. annual suicide percentage. Furthermore, for every completed suicide by youth it is estimated that 100-200 attempts are made.
Inspire USA Foundation, an organization that seeks to promote the mental health and well-being of young Americans, developed www.ReachOut.com, which includes youth generated, expert-reviewed information and real life stories and opportunities to connect with others in a supportive, safe environment. Some of the issues covered include warning signs for suicide, depression, eating disorders, relationships and coping strategies.
