The Golf Blog says: After 3 birdies in the first 6 holes, Ernie Els soon found himself tied for the lead at -3 with Graeme McDowell.
But then a bogey on 9 put a slight halt in Ernie’s momentum. Walking back to 10 tee, Ernie brought back the driver and 3-wood. Not sure which club he picked, but he ended up mis-hitting it badly right into the hazard, off the cliff (see below). Ernie almost clawed his way back (as leader Graeme McDowell kept coming back to the field and even par), but Ernie ended up missing a close birdie on 15.
