The Golf Blog: Tiger Woods, who shot even par yesterday (7 behind the leaders), said he won’t be hiring a new swing coach. Instead, he’ll coach himself, using video analysis.
We’ll see how this lasts. Tiger did the same thing (coachless) after firing Butch Harmon. That didn’t work out well and Tiger eventually went to Hank Haney. While it’s probably true that Tiger can analyze his own swing from video, while on the range at tournaments, we doubt he’ll be looking at video of his swing right before playing. A coach, though, can analyze the swing and make minor tweaks. Also, having a second pair of eyes to analyze one’s swing is always a good idea, even if only to tell you the swing looks good.
