The Golf Blog: Will Tiger Woods be heckled at 2010 Ryder Cup in Wales?
The Golf Blog says: At the 1999 Ryder Cup, U.S. fans at Brookline heckled Colin Montgomerie with catcalls of “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Tuna,” and perhaps something worse. Monty has a distinguished Ryder Cup record of 20-9-7, but the “Battle at Brookline” turned out to be one of the most controversial Ryder Cups after U.S. players stormed the green to celebrate with Justin Leonard after he sunk a clutch putt — even though Jose Maria Olazabal had not finished putting.
Fast forward to 2010. Monty is now European Captain. And the Ryder Cup is in Wales. We all know the sex scandal involving Tiger Woods that blew up after his car accident on Thanksgiving. Will the fans in Wales behave like the U.S. fans did in Boston in 1999? Do they serve alcohol there? If so, all bets are off.
