The Golf Blog says: Reports from all the leading sources indicate that the PGA of America will pick Tom Watson to captain the Ryder Cup in 2014. Watson captained the winning US team back in 1993. Earlier this year, many golf commentators expected that 3-time major winner Larry Nelson would finally be selected after being snubbed for many years. Nelson played in 3 Ryder Cups, with an amazing 9-3-1 record, one of the best for a US player.
Nelson understandably upset how everything went down, tweeted today the following: “The PGA nor Ted Bishop have contacted me, and It angers me that they have stated otherwise.”

Watson will no doubt be a fine captain, but, frankly, he’s had his chance and unless there some special reason to ask him to captain again 20 years later (we don’t see any), we would have given that opportunity to Larry Nelson.
The PGA of American will make the announcement on Thursday.
