The Golf Blog says: Phil Mickelson finished strong after a rain delay at Merion for the U.S. Open, finishing tied for the lead at -3. Mickelson took a redeye flight from San Diego last night, so he could attend his daughter Amanda’s graduation from grade school. The 3-under 67 was the lowest first round Phil shot since 1999 at Pinehurst where Phil lost in a playoff to Payne Stewart before the birth of his daughter.
Tiger Woods is at +1 after four holes and may have injured his wrist. Play is suspended a second time due to rain.
