The Golf Blog says: Dustin Johnson made a shocking exit from the PGA Tour, including the upcoming PGA Championship and Ryder Cup. Citing unspecified “personal challenges” and the need “to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation,” Dustin said he was taking an immediate leave of absence from golf to “seek professional help for personal challenges.”
The news is shocking, especially after Dustin finished T12 at the British Open and would have certainly been on the US Ryder Cup team. The only thing more shocking in professional golf in the past 10 years was the Tiger Woods sex scandal.
Twitter was immediately ablaze with speculation that the unspecified “challenges” may be related to drugs or substance abuse. (Click here.) We’ll have to wait and see if this turns out to be true, but we hope Dustin gets the professional help that he needs.
