The Golf Blog says: The short 317-yard par 4 at TPC Scottsdale has Rickie Fowler’s number. Poised to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a 2-shot lead (birdieing 3 of 7 holes on the back nine, Rickie blasted a driver over the green and into water. Rickie birdied 18 just to get into a playoff with 24-year-old Hideki Matsuyama. The two went toe to toe for 3 pressure-filled holes, which then brought them back to Hole 17. Taking 3 wood this time, Fowler hooked his tee shot into the water. Fowler has hit 9 balls into the water on the 17th at TPC Scottsdale in his career–it seems like a good time for Rickie to switch to Plan B on that hole.
Fowler cried at his press conference because he felt he let his family (in attendence) down: “The hard part is having all my friends and family and grandpa and my dad who haven’t seen me win. But I will be able to kind of hang with them tonight. I’ll be all right.”
Rickie Fowler is in trouble again at 17. #QuickHits https://t.co/7UxH8n4Ida
