The Golf Blog says: William McGirt won his first PGA Tour event after a two hole playoff with Jon Curran at the Memorial. After struggling on mini-tours for years, McGirt finally broke through with a victory, earning $1.53 million and a 3 year PGA Tour exemption, plus a ticket to the U.S. Open. He did get a little advice several years ago from Tiger Woods, who called McGirt an “idiot” for not looking at the leaderboard the last time he had a chance to win a PGA Tour event. This time, McGirt did.
