The Golf Blog says: Phil Mickelson sliced and then hooked his tee shot on the first hole for what turned out to be a “good” triple bogey 7. It was reminiscent of Rory McIlroy losing the Masters after hitting his ball near a house on 10 at Augusta.
But 7 wasn’t the highest score for Phil at a major. 9 was, at the 13th hole at Torrey Pines at the 2008 U.S. Open.
