The Golf Blog says: Just a day after Tiger Woods announced he was not ready to play in the Masters, Tiger announced his retirement on his website, perhaps to the surprise of no one.
“After 20 years of professional golf, 14 majors and 79 PGA Tour victories, I have nothing left to accomplish. This sport has given me so much, and I have given it all that my body could possibly give. The past couple years and numerous surgeries have been frustrating, to say the least. I’ve worked harder than I ever have to get my body healthy and my game back to the standards I set for myself. But, sometimes in life, things just don’t go the way you want them to go.
“I want to take this moment to thank my family, my support team, my past coaches (Butch, Hank, Sean, Chris), my caddies (Joe, Stevie, Fluff), and, of course, all of my fans around the world. I’m looking forward to devoting more of my time to my Foundation and just being a dad to my kids. I am coming home.”
