The Golf Blog says: In the end, Brooks Koepka, 27 years old, ran away with the US Open, winning by 4 strokes and tying Rory McIlroy’s record low of 16 under at the US Open. Koepka took advantage of the dying winds in the afternoon and carded a 5-under 66. He finished 4 shots better than Hideki Matsuyama and Brian Harman. The win is Koepka’s first major.
The course Erin Hills was hosting its first major tournament. Some criticized the course for not being as challenging as the typical US Open course, where even par is close to the winning score. The course has no trees or water. It has wide fairways, bordered by tall fescue grass. Only Sunday had some wind to deal with.
